Hi, welcome everybody! If you're not familiar with the story of CUPID STUPID, please go to Pages and click WHERE THE STORY ENDS. Read that prologue first and then catch up with the rest of us. For those of you familiar with the story of Chi Yat-Po and Twinkle, jump right in - the water's hot ...

Why Cupid Stupid 2

For some weird reason known only to – sentient beings from outer space? – I’ve accidentally become a fan, a devotee, of the TVB drama Cupid Stupid which is originally scripted by Chan Ching Yee and Lau Chi Wah.

Now I don’t know these two scribes in person but they did a terrific job scripting the series – bar one or two peculiar twists and turns to the storyline. Call me naïve but this is my personal opinion.

However - yes, there is a ‘however,' a BIG 'however' - the ending broke my heart.

Why?

Simple. It’s a real kick in the teeth for me to see an underdog get his girl flicked by some cheesy, yuppified smart-aleck who swoops in last minute to bedazzle the females.

In what world does a caring, loyal, humorous, courageous, hardworking guy lose a girl to a pencil-pushing toy designer who in his spare-time chases down toy robots and punches slot-machines to read his daily horoscopes? Horrific eh.

Well, some folks tell me this is the reality. Especially in Chinese society. Especially in Hongkong.

Reality or not, I’m hoping very much there will be a Cupid Stupid sequel to rectify the heart-rending finale. C’mon, TVB!

However, in view of all the pessimistic opinions around me – TVB loves tragedy, loves negative endings, loves killing heroes, loves rewarding villains – I’m feeling at the moment rather pessimistic too that it would happen anytime soon.

So, rather than die an agonising death thinking about Chi Yat-Po sitting on the fishing float grieving over his love lost, I'm now going to attempt to write out the lives of Chi Yat-Po, Twinkle and Jeff from the evening after the Disneyland episode.

I've entitled this imaginary sequel 'Butterflies In Summer' to honor two other great Chinese romances: The Butterfly Lovers and Summer Triangle - both of which tell the stories of passionate, undying love between honorable men and women. (Hey, no sense in love without honor, ok.)

Yes, I know the title is kinda lame but it’ll have to do for the time being. Until genius strikes and I think up something entirely original and stupendous!

Perhaps one of you Cupid Stupid fans can help me out here?

Hi there and welcome! Will be writing again this weekend. Had a terrifically busy couple of weeks. Mad, mad, mad ... hopefully I'll be able to finish this story soon without running out of steam.

Hey, please write your story too - I would read it and support you all the way.

BTW, why you nick yourself uglygirl? :( I'm sure you're not! Anyone who is a fan of Cupid Stupid must surely be a lovely person -- inside and outside.

See ya!
